  2. Hi Amanda, Unfortunately, the only way to apply a static IP is one at a time. Since they are applied on a machine-specific basis, and remote deployments are (by definition) completely unattended, there's no other mechanism available to automate this process other than to use separate answer files. 3. Hello, A couple of things can cause this issue. If you have any anti-virus on the host, disable it and then attempt to redownload. Also, make sure your SmartDeploy host is set to US/English for region and language. If you still have issues, let us know and we can investigate further. Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
  4. Microsoft moved away from Service Packs, and starting offering major updates as in-place upgrades. Windows Update makes these happen pretty seamlessly, but what is actually happening behind the scenes is that the data and settings are getting backed up in-place via USMT, then the existing OS is upgraded, then the data and settings are restored. This obviously isn’t the cleanest way to create an image that you are then going to mass deploy. So, it’s always a good idea to start over and create a new VM when these major version updates come out. It used to be that Sysprep would not run on an upgraded OS. But, starting with Windows 10 1607 Microsoft updated Sysprep to allow it to run. SmartDeploy 2.0.2020 will allow Sysprep to run if it’s 1607. If you do capture an upgraded OS, might want to run disk cleanup and get rid of the previous OS before capturing. Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
  5. 6. We recommend installing SmartDeploy on a physical host computer with a 1GHz processor and 2GB of RAM. You can install it on a VM, but sometimes virtual on virtual doesn’t always work out the best. Our tools are very light weight and mainly the minimum requirements would be for your virtualization software you’re using. The more RAM dedicated to the Virtual Reference machine, the better it’s going to run. Also, an SSD drive is always good for capturing. Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
  7. How did you perform your copy profile? If the steps you followed weren't provided by us, it may not work out. If you would like the copy profile steps/files email us at Support @ SmartDeploy .com and we can provide them to you. Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
  8. Hi Jeff, You can enable the local administrator account by: Booting to your boot media Select Deploy an Image -> Advanced Enable local administrator account As for your sysprep error, ensure you're using the latest version of SmartDeploy and boot the problematic machine to your boot media. Click the Collect Logs button and send us your logs. Support @ smartdeploy .com Please refer to this thread in the email. Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
  9. Hello, You can look on the client in the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\SmartDeploy folder - locate a file called ClientService.xml, and edit this in Notepad. In this XML file, there will be a tag called <ConsoleIPAddress>, which will contain the hostname or IP address that you supplied when you installed the client. You can modify this manually and save the XML file, or you can uninstall the client, delete this file, and reinstall the client. If you're still having issues, please email us at support (at) smartdeploy.com, and we can help troubleshoot further. 11. This isn't something SmartDeploy is designed to do and as you stated could lead to issues. You will want to create a virtual reference machine, then capture/deploy that to all desired machines, then during the deploy process, join the domain, provide names, etc. Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
  12. If you use the same credentials on SmartDeploy.com do they work? Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
  13. Try upgrading to version 2.0.2030 and capture and let us know your results. Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
  14. Hello, This scenario isn't what SmartDeploy is designed to do unfortunately. If it's the exact same model/manufacturer it should work out if the drive is 100% good.. i.e. Take the physical drive out, move to the other machine, then deploy and utilize USMT functionality. It will take another license. Thanks, SmartDeploy Support.
  15. Hi Javier, Here are the recommended steps in order to get the SmartDeploy console working with your firewall and prevent any issues download platform packs via the console. · Disable any anti-virus on the SmartDeploy host · The console uses standard HTTP and HTTPS ports to initiate the download – you’ll need to make sure that SmartDeploy Enterprise can access ports 80 and 443. · You may need to create an exception in your firewall for this executable: C:\Program Files (x86)\SmartDeploy\SmartDeploy Enterprise\Resources\ConsoleService.exe · Allow download.smartdeploy.com/* through your firewall Beyond that, there may be application-specific rules that are restricting traffic on your network – it’s possible that only browsers are permitted to download files, for instance. If you still have issues, let us know, Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
  16. Hello Blacksmith You would want to download the Windows ADK for Windows 10, version 1607. https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?LinkId=526740 Thank you, SmartDeploy Support.
  17. Hi Eric, The WIM file format uses a technology and structure known as "single-instance storage", wherein any files that are binary-identical are only stored once. As a result, the WIM file is usually smaller than the virtual hard disk that it was captured from, as there's generally some redundancy between files. I can't speak to the specific updates or software that you might have installed, but this sort of expansion of the WIM file is pretty common when files are changed - where one copy of a file may have sufficed before, now (with slight alteration), two copies of the file may exist, and as a result, the WIM file would be larger by that amount. Repeat a few thousand times, and you end up with a much larger file. The WIM file format does support the storage of multiple images, so if you're looking to save a bit of disk space, you can store your images in the same WIM file, and they will generally take up less space than the separate files, as most of the OS files will be identical between them (as long as they're the same OS version). 18. Hi all, This pack has actually been updated today in response to another customer's request, so I would advise anyone reading this to download the latest version and retry deployment. If the issue persists, please send the logs above (and feel free to reach out if you're unable to retrieve them - we can provide further instructions for how to retrieve them via WinPE command prompt). 19. Hi DJ_Mo, Thanks for reaching out. We build our Platform Packs using the drivers available from the manufacturer for that device, so I can assure you, you can trust that the drivers are correct (or at least correctly intended) for the target device. That's not to say they never have problems, however. Manufacturers sometimes release faulty drivers or firmware updates, and of course drivers (and devices) get updated from time to time, and even valid device driver installations can fail for various reasons. When these issues occur, we generally have you pull some logs from the device so that we can troubleshoot further. From your description of the symptoms, it actually sounds like the Platform Pack was not used. By default, SmartDeploy will look in the same folder where your image is stored for a pack that matches the make/model of the target device and the OS you're trying to deploy. You may want to download the latest version of the pack and retry deployment. If the issue persists, can you retrieve some logs from the device, and we can see what may be happening? C:\Windows\Debug\Deploy.log C:\Platform\Dism.txt C:\Windows\Inf\Setupapi.dev.log Please also indicate whether you've successfully deployed this image to any other devices. You can send these items to us at support (at) smartdeploy.com SmartDeploy Support Team TECH RESOURCES SmartDeploy User Guides DeployCentral Forum Platform Pack RSS SOCIAL
  20. Hello networkadmin Yes, as of SmartDeploy v2, you may install the software on a virtual machine. But I should warn you; it does add some additional complexity. In order to capture an image, you would need to either copy the virtual hard disk from your reference machine into the VM where SmartDeploy is installed (so that you can run the Capture Wizard, offline), or you would need to copy a SmartDeploy boot media ISO from the VM where SmartDeploy is installed, to your VM host, so that you can attach it to your virtual reference machine for a warm/online capture (as described in Appendix 1 of the SDE User’s Guide (here). Additionally, if you wish to use SmartDeploy Media Wizard to create any USB media (boot media or offline deployment media), configuring USB passthrough from a host to a VM can be tricky, and doesn’t always function properly (or offer full speed or functionality). And finally – not all virtualization platforms support nested virtualization (“VM within a VM”) – so if you’re planning to try that setup, we can’t guarantee it will work properly. Thank you, SmartDeploy Support
