  1. Does the machine have bitlocker or any other encryption enabled? If so, turn it off and then redeploy and let us know your results. Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
  2. I can tell you, we will have application only deployment in some sort of beta by the end of the year. Of course there is no official ETA, but it's on the development roadmap Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
  3. You would have to install the images on the image or make multiple images for your specific application needs. When you create your answer file, you will want to select Enable User Data Migration on the User Data Migration page, then select your desired options. Use that answer file during deployment and you will be good to go. You have three options to migrate. User Settings: this includes the full user account, any personalized setting and documents (C:\Users\Demo) Application Settings: this includes Microsoft Office and other Microsoft related applications Documents: this includes everything on the C: drive that was not added by the operating system or applications (C:\*) For more information regarding the User Data Migration please refer to page 34 in our User Guide.
  4. Hi Brad, Please send us your C:\SmartDeploy\Logs\Media.log from your SmartDeploy host and we can take a look. SmartDeploy Support
  5. The Windows PE driver doesn't get used until Windows PE is fully booted. With PXE boot this would either be down to the version of Windows Server that is being used, or the BIOS/firmware on the machine. Looks like a few revisions of back in the BIOS they updated the Realtek NIC firmware, so something like that could make a difference.
  6. Hi Caeden, Here are the recommended steps in order to get the SmartDeploy console working with your firewall and prevent any issues downloading platform packs via the console. Disable any anti-virus on the SmartDeploy host The console uses standard HTTP and HTTPS ports to initiate the download – you’ll need to make sure that SmartDeploy Enterprise can access ports 80 and 443. You may need to create an exception in your firewall for this executable: C:\Program Files (x86)\SmartDeploy\SmartDeploy Enterprise\Resources\ConsoleService.exe Allow download.smartdeploy.com/* through your firewall Check whether you're behind a proxy. If you are, you'll need to add the proxy setting information to the SmartDeploy console settings. If you're not sure, you can confirm this by visiting this website: http://amibehindaproxy.com/ Beyond that, there may be application-specific rules that are restricting traffic on your network – it’s possible that only browsers are permitted to download files, for instance. Additionally, here is a complete list of the ports used by SmartDeploy: TCP 80 - HTTP TCP 443 - HTTPS TCP 8732 - ConsoleServiceWCF TCP 8733 - ClientServiceWCF TCP 8734 - ConsoleServiceSLWCF TCP 8735 – ConsoleServiceMCWCF If you have any questions, feel free to reach out by emailing us at support (at) smartdeploy.com. 7. Richard, Did you edit your answer file outside of the Answer File Wizard? Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
  8. Given that you're able to proceed manually once you re-enter the path and credentials, this likely indicates that one of these items is faulty or invalid in the current answer file. Go ahead and re-run Answer File Wizard to recreate your answer file, then recreate your media, then retry deployment. If the issue persists, go ahead and email us at support (at) smartdeploy.com (and be sure to reference this thread) - we'll want to get some logs from you to troubleshoot further. Regards, Glenn SmartDeploy Support
  9. Hi there, When this occurs on the faulty device, is there a valid IP address displayed in the lower right corner? Are you able to complete the deployment if you enter the network path and re-enter your credentials? Regards, Glenn SmartDeploy Support
  10. Sorry about all the back and forth. It would be helpful if we could get the name that shows in SmartPE. Can you send us the Answer File you used for the deployment package as well? Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
  11. According to your deploy.log it looks as though it should of used the existing name first. When you booted to the SmartDeploy boot environment on this device, what was the name in the bottom right corner? What did it name it instead? When you created your answer file, you picked the following correct? Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
  12. Just to verify, you're wanting the machine to keep the existing name, correct?
  13. C:\Windows\Debug\Deploy.log will show you your deployment settings as well as your answer file. You can attach it here if you want us to take a look. Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
  14. Ha, glad to hear it worked out SmartDeploy Support
  15. Glad to hear it - please let us know if we can assist with anything else. Glenn
  16. Hello, This is unfortunately not a settings issue. Windows 10 Version 1709 images requires the latest version of SmartDeploy to deploy properly. The required version is 2.0.2097 technically, but the latest version, 2.0.3000, is best, as it includes bugfixes and performance improvements specific to deploying this Windows version. Download and install the latest version, then re-run Media Wizard to recreate your SmartDeploy media, then retry deployment. If you have any questions or issues, please feel free to contact us at support (at) smartdeploy.com. 17. Hi all, We've reached out to HaughtonS by email, as the cause of this issue has likely changed since this thread was originally created. If anyone else runs into this particular error, please feel free to reach out to us via email - support (at) smartdeploy.com Regards, Glenn SmartDeploy Support 888.7DEPLOY toll-free _____________________________ SmartDeploy® Learn about our award winning Windows deployment solutions www.smartdeploy.com www.deploycentral.com Twitter: @SmartDeploy Facebook: SmartDeploy Spiceworks: Spiceworks
  18. Hi Yousef, There's really not a practical option for this, unfortunately - a preimage Task can be any command line, but it only executes once you've initiated the deployment. So creating a conditional task like you're describing, or one which waits for user input before proceeding, really wouldn't be supported. 19. Hi Yousef, Unfortunately, this is not a capability of SmartDeploy. We do include the ability to execute Tasks in WindowsPE right before the image is applied, but it would not be feasible to disjoin a computer from the domain in this context, as this command would need to be executed within the full Windows OS prior to deployment. 20. Hello, Please restart the machine back into the SmartDeploy boot environment and select Collect Logs save the resulting zip to a usb or network share and attach them to this thread and we can take a look. Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
  21. Hi Steve, To clarify, the management console that you're referring to above is for the antivirus software, correct? You're not speaking of the SmartDeploy console? I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a secondary issue here with extraneous SmartDeploy licenses being consumed, since that definitely shouldn't happen when you reimage the same computer over and over. Unfortunately, there's not really a practical option for this from a deployment standpoint. We do allow command-line tasks to be run during the "PREIMAGE" phase in WindowsPE - this occurs right before the image is applied. However, running a software uninstall operation in WindowsPE wouldn't work, as this needs to be done in the full Windows OS. The SmartDeploy client isn't designed to run any additional tasks before the device reboots into WindowsPE - it simply downloads the boot image and then reboots into it. I would suggest you reach out to your antivirus software vendor - given that they have a management console that allows you to monitor your installations of their software, they may have an option for remote uninstallation as well. Beyond that, I suppose your only other option would be to use Group Policy to run the uninstall command as a scheduled task (to occur immediately), applied to that specific computer - or to uninstall the antivirus manually before initiating deployment. 22. On the F12 screen, it will say "Boot mode is set to:" either UEFI or Legacy. Based on what that says, you have to select an option from the menu that matches, otherwise you will end up with no bootable device found. Here is a spreadsheet we made to try and illustrate all the different scenarios and outcomes.
  23. We've worked though updating the Audio driver on most of the HP packs that were effected by the Conexant vulnerability. Looks like we haven't made it as far back in the ProBook models as the G2 and G3, so we can get those updated. Believe all the generations of EliteBook 800 models are up to date though. Here is HP's website about it. If you find a pack with a driver older than specified on that website, please submit a platform pack request and we'll get it updated. Thanks, SmartDeploy Support Team
