CTEK
Hi, I have always downloaded platform packs manually, and have a little cache of current and old packs which I use. We also use a proxy server for internet access and I don't see anywhere to configure a proxy server within SDE (or have I missed it? We're running v2.0.2000). With the impending change to access PPKs only from within the application, how can I access PPKs? Thanks,
CTEK
I might have just answered my own question: don't use PAC, explicitly configure host and port. Now, any support for authenticating against the proxy server....?
SmartDeploySupport
Hello, We use the default proxy that is set in Internet Explorer for our Silverlight tools. Make sure those are set to default, no anti-virus is running on the SmartDeploy host and the following ports are enabled if you have a firewall: 80 and 443. Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
CTEK
Thank you: once I moved from a PAC file to host:port the proxy connection started working.
vincent.yiu
I'm running on a proxy, and tried using the PAC file as well as entering the proxy settings manually. I can surf the web fine using the PAC file and the manually entered proxy settings but, I'm unable to download the platform packs. The PPK shows up in the file directory but stays at 0KB. Are there any ideas? I wish you'd bring downloading the PPKs from the website back. That's how I got all of my previous ones.
CTEK
I'm not sure of your environment, but worked for us was to disable "Automatically detect settings", disable "Use automatic configuration script", enable "Use a proxy server for your LAN", and enable "Bypass proxy server for local addresses." I explicitly populated the "Address" and "Port" fields with the IP address and port of our proxy server. Our proxy server requires authentication, but I have a bypass list of domain names for which authentication is not required. I have added www.smartdeploy.com to the bypass list. I hope this helps,
vincent.yiu
Thanks for your help CTEK but I've tried each of the things you mentioned and I'm still unable to download any PPK files. SmartDeploy, can you please assist?
SmartDeploySupport
Hello, Try unblocking Silverlight as well as the SDEConsoleservice. Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
vincent.yiu
Hi SmartDeploy Support, Are you talking about unblocking Silverlight and SDEConsole Service in the Firewall? I do not have the Windows Firewall turned on at all. I have gotten quotes from vendors, and am ready to go through with the purchase of a large amount of SmartDeploy licenses for entire organization but this is proving to be a dealbreaker. If I'm unable to download platform packs anymore, then I will have to find another product. Can you please bring back platform pack downloads from your website, or point me to another place I can get them?
SmartDeploySupport
Vincent, Sorry you're still encountering issues. It sounds as though something on your network is still causing issues. Does your network have a firewall? Not just the SmartDeploy host? Email us at Support @ SmartDeploy .com and we can troubleshoot further. Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
CTEK
I'm also happy to help Vincent if that would be of use - I'm not sure of your environment, but I know what it took to get SD working for us.
