Ted Pruitt
When a new version of SmartDeploy is released (like the one today - 2.0.3040) - is there a need to upgrade the client on your end-user PCs? And if so, how is that done?
SmartDeploySupport
Hi Ted, In order to perform console-initiated deployments, the clients must be on the same version as the console. No action should be required, however - the clients should install the latest version automatically, starting within a few minutes of when you upgrade the console. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or issues - support@smartdeploy.com. Glenn SmartDeploy Support
Ted Pruitt
Please clarify - there is some automatic upgrade that happens between the deployment server and the workstation? (Assuming the PC is on, of course)
Ted Pruitt
Also - while I have you - what is the new orange exclamation on my Deployment Packages screen - I'm assuming that indicates that there is an old client on board?
Ted Pruitt
Never mind on the first question - I see that is the case. Very cool. Nice work guys!
SmartDeploySupport
Hi Ted, Yep, you guessed it. Deployment Packages need to be recreated as well with the new version, but you can use the same answer file as before, unless you're utilizing any new Deploy Wizard features that did not exist in the previous version (I don't believe there are any such changes in .3040, but this has been the case in some previous versions). Ted Pruitt
It's all good - just finished recreating them. Thanks Glenn - and thanks to your team for an AWESOME product. I recommend it to everyone I know in the industry.
jwad0909
Is there a way to force the clients to call in to be updated? I'm working with some cloud connected machines and they haven't received the updated client yet after approximately 24 hours.
Chin Jam
Any update on this - when and how can you force clients to upgrade?
SmartDeploySupport
Hi Chin, Client machines should automatically update themselves. If they're not, then something is causing a disconnect in communication to the host. We can certainly take a closer look at this. Please submit a request to support@smartdeploy.com and we can further troubleshoot the issue. -Chris SmartDeploy Support
