danderson@albany.edu
After manually deploying an image containing the SmartDeploy client to two machines, we were attempting to test remote image deployment from the console. We saw the two machines, and attempted to create a new group for them. However, something happened during that step which caused the machines to disappear from the console and Silverlight to hang. (After several minutes a Window error message displays indicating that Silverlight stopped working.) Now the console hangs whenever we select Computer Management, and we have to kill the process via task manager or wait till Silverlight errors out. We tried 1) manually uninstalling and reinstalling the SDclient on the target machines; 2) reinstalling SD Enterprise selecting Repair; 3) uninstalling and reinstalling SD Enterprise. The console.log contains the following, requesting a vaild group name; however the view of the console is blank, the ap is hung, and even if a prompt displayed to update the group name, we wouldn't be able to interact with it. Is there way to update this data other than via the console? 6/13/2016 1:45:29 PM : 1 : ProcessException,WriteExceptionSection,WriteToLog : --------------- EXCEPTION --------------- 6/13/2016 1:45:29 PM : 1 : GetStackTrace,ProcessException,WriteToLog : Exception Message:Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown. SmartDeploySupport
Hello, Please perform the following and let us know your results: Delete C:\Windows\SysWOW64\SmartDeploy.sdf Uninstall SmartDeploy Restart Reinstall SmartDeploy Relaunch SmartDeploy console Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
danderson@albany.edu
Thank you. That fixed the crashing problem. (Unfortunately, it cleared all the library data as well.) We can again see the machines in Computer Management. But the ability to create groups doesn't seem to be working properly. We can right-click on a machine and select Groups - Create, and this will create a group named "Group Name..." and add the machine to that. But there is no prompt to change the group name. Also, we cannot add the other machine to that group, nor can we create a second group.
danderson@albany.edu
Update--the second group appeared several minutes after we attempted the "create" process. It is also named "Group Name..."
SmartDeploySupport
It can take a min or so to create the new group. This should be fixed in the next service release. Thanks, SmartDeploy Support
