Error "SmartDeploy Enterprise, Unable to connect to the SmartDeploy Enterprise Console service"

Recommended Posts

I have been testing SD for two days now and can not seem to make sense of this error... SD will allow me to build my reference machine using VM WS12 and things look great. Was even able to generate an image file for the build... however, when using the console, it constantly errors when I try to browse my reference machines or images. I am running win8.1x64 and have updated every component I could think of including Silverlight and MS ADK and turning every component on just in case there are dependencies in there somewhere. Even tried a complete re-install... nada.

Here are some snapshots of the error I am receiving - constantly popping up in two windows.

and my console log.

Any help would help.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the detailed error info.

We've actually just released a new version of SmartDeploy v2 (2.0.1020) that's intended to bugfix several issues - go ahead and download and install the latest version from SmartDeploy.com, and feel free to email us at support (at) smartdeploy.com if the issues persist.

Thank you for the fast reply. Unfortunately I am still receiving the error after uninstalling the old version and installing 2.0.1020 version. I will continue to test but will probably install on a clean OS to see if that helps with the problem.

  • 3 weeks later...

For future reference, I was able to fix this issue after looking in the event viewer (application log) on my machine - I noticed Event 0, SmartDeploy Enterprise Console Service. On the General tab "Cannot open 'SmartDeploy.sdf'. Provider 'System.Data.SqlServerCe.3.5' not installed."

I downloaded & installed MSSQL CE3.5 SP2 from: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=5783 (I installed both x86 & x64 versions per MS’ recommendation).

Then I repaired the install of SD from the control panel and all is well.
