Vol license, MSP owned vs client owned?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I work at an MSP and we are implementing SmartDeploy for imaging systems. I had a couple questions that I wasn't able to find answers for. I am trying to clarify if our client organizations each need Windows 10 volume licensing to be fully licensed or if we as the MSP can carry the Windows 10 volume license and still have the imaged systems be licensed without issue.

I also wanted to know if we need to activate systems with the MAK key provided by the volume licensing. On the systems I'm working with (Dell Latitude and Optiplex systems), after deploying our image I've been able to go into Windows 10 activation settings and troubleshoot activation and have the system activate without issue. Is this OK licensing-wise?
