Abe
We've been using SmartDpeloy for about a year now and we have noticed that after deploying once to a computer and trying to re-image it again with a network boot that it has an issue of not wanting to deploy for a long time if not at all. This probably isn't normal and I have not seen anyone else on the Forums having this same issue. To give an example, we have the Optiplex 7040 in two variations, small from factor with 8gbs and a mid form with 16gbs. The 8gbs deployed just fine without any issues within 30mins. The 16gb variation I have been waiting for 2 days now with no apparent reason of it not deploying, just the little clock symbol in the Computer Management portion of the Console. I have restarted the target computer several times, re-installed the client several times, and tried to redeploy several times with the Deploy Now option and the Scheduled with results except for that little clock symbol. Jeff Harris
One thing I always check when troubleshooting the console initiated network deployments is the network utilization on the SmartDeploy. You''ll be able to see a lot faster if the boot image is actually being copied to the client. This sounds like the connection to the mid-form 7040 isn't happening. Are the systems in the same subnet/network? Can you verify the Windows Firewall isn't blocking traffic, or perhaps SmartDeploy has to pass through a different firewall appliance to reach that client and the traffic is being blocked. Abe
We have imaged this mid-form 7040 once before with no issues. The server can see the target and the target and can see the server with no issues. The firewall is set up to allow SmartDeploy with nothing in it to stop the connection and we don't have any firewall appliances to stop the connection. The Mid-form and small-from are in the same network, sitting on the same switch, and have all the same settings, there is a difference in processor and RAM though and I'm not sure that that would cause an issue trying to deploy to with the specific deployment for the 7040. Jeff Harris
It sounds like you'll need to gather up the logs in C:\SmartDeploy\Logs in a zip and contact support@smartdeploy.com to see what's going on.
