Unfortunately, that is a current limitation of SmartDeploy; that you must be logged into the console host with local administrator rights, and only one instance of the console can be open at at a time.

This is feedback that we've received from numerous customers, and it is on our roadmap. It does likely mean a substantial re-write of SmartDeploy, which I believe is underway. I don't have a timeline or expected ETA for this to share unfortunately.

    Any update on this?

  2. Hi, is there a way to access the Smart Deploy console that is on a server through a web console or a locally installed Smart Deploy console on a client computer? I would like to access the Smart Deploy console through a web browser or locally installed console on a client computer without having to remote into our Smart Deploy console to use the Computer Management and applications & Task features.

    Thanks!

    This is worth mentioning though:

CN should be used if the container name has been created by default when you installed AD (System Based container). For instance, the container Computers on the top level of your AD structure should be referred to as CN=Computers,DC=Domain,DC=Com.

Whereas your containers that you created yourself, should be referred to as OU (Organizational Unit). You can always check what type of object it is by right clicking on it and selecting Properties -> Object tab. Check the Object Class to see if it's a Container or Organizational Unit. For instance OU=Computers,OU=OfficeEurope,DC=Domain,DC=Com.

Containers have a plain icon when OUs have little books in the icon.

Truthfully if I want new computers to go to the default Computers container, I just leave the field blank.

Just wanted to sign in and post that leaving the field blank helped with my issue. Thanks!
