  1. Hello all.

Mine is finally pulling an IP after rebuilding the deployment media with the new driver package added- will report back if the image fails for some reason. Hopefully this will work for you as well kskennedy good luck.

..had no idea that the smart deploy environment also uses the driver packages to load drivers..good to know

  2. Hello,

The boot media i am building is for an image and platform pack on the network.  Its the actual deployment menu that does not have network access, not the image (i'm assuming if i made an offline boot disk it would work but this would break the way we do images).

  3. For anyone interested i was able to get around this issue by capturing the image from the smartdeploy iso as described in Appendix 1 in the SmartDeploy User’s Guide (here). This advice was given to me via email by a smartdeploy support rep.

When i have time i want to see if this was maybe caused by creating a VM through Vmware workstation instead of going through the "build" wizard.

  4. Unfortunately no luck yet.

I will email you now, meanwhile here is part of the log file.

    Thanks!

  5. When I try to Capture a windows 10 image I receive a message saying that the Virtual Disk must contain at least one volume (screen shot taken from http://deploycentral.com/topic/324-unable-to-capture-vm/?hl=%2Bvirtual+%2Bdisk+%2Bmust+%2Bcontain+%2Bleast+%2Bvolume ).

    Unable_to_Capture.png

I have tried ALL that I could find on this forum but with no luck.

I am using VMware workstation 12.

If I try to capture a WIn 7 image is works just fine.

  6. Hello,

I would like to point the libraries for smartdeploy to a shared location so that others can use them. is this possible? At the very least I would rather not have the default directory point to the root of my c drive.

I have tried changing the directory at C:\Program Files (x86)\SmartDeploy\SmartDeploy Enterprise\Resources\Configuration to look like:

    <SmartDeploy>
    <SmartDeployDirectory>T:\SmartDeploy</SmartDeployDirectory>
    </SmartDeploy>

BUT all I get is a "Microsoft Silverlight Out-of-Browser Launcher has stopped working" message when I try to relaunch, even If I copy the contents of C:\SmartDeploy to the new location.

    Thanks in advance!

  7. Just an fyi- ended up just starting from scratch with a new build. Just had too many variables on my machine (ie installed programs) to make sifting through each potential source of the issue worth it.

However for anyone else that is having trouble I recommend looking into the version of Sql CE installed, your version of .net and any versions of the windows provisioning tools installed as the issue might have been there.

  8. Glad to see i am not the only one having the same issue.. Did you ever have any luck with this? Nothing I have tried has worked.

    Any other ideas?

    Things I have tried:

Disabling antivirus, firewall, windows defender, ect

    Installing through a different profile

Reinstalling old product and then uninstalling before upgrading (wiping all leftover enteries).

    deleting the service (sc delete)

    "run as administrator" install

    calling the installer rude names

    Notes:

    Windows 7 pro x64

    Version 2.0.1010

  9. I have been a smart deploy user for more than a year now, for the most part i have enjoyed the experience.

Currently i am having two different issues...One is just annoying and One renders the product useless.

    I'll start with the primary:

    1. I am currently receiving a "Unable to locate a license file" message every time I boot into the new boot environment. Smart deploy proceeds to shutdown. Why is this occurring and how do i get this resolved? the product is currently unusable.

    2. While smart deploy was working (note that of course it no longer is), the Deployment Media would be mapped as C. The deployment stops with an error since the disk is the active one. The solution to this has been to run diskpart to re assign drive letters- but I am needing a long term solution.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
