I have a Lenovo W530 - brand new – Windows 7 installed on there and I’ve installed some software like MS Office on there.
I want to replace the hard drive. It was a 500 Gig and I have a 1TB drive I want to use.
I boot up with Smart Deploy and go to F10 – and I capture the current drive using
SMARTWIM /CAPTURE D: G:\WIN7.WIM “Windows 7 image”
D: is where the hard drive showed up as when I booted from a USB Smart Deploy bootup device
G: is the USB where I had room to store the image
That process ran through and I figured all was well.
I replaced the 500 Gig drive with the new 1TB drive.
I boot again into Smart Deploy – I point to the fresh .wim file I just created – I point to the Lenovo W530 Platform Pack I downloaded from your site.
I choose to “Recreate the drives” (the normal default) and hit Next
I instantly get an Exception Occurred Error
And it gives me a Deploy Wizard error:
[Arg_NullReferenceException]
Arguments:

HELP!?!
Thanks…

I got an answer from support. So disregard this. (Basically you can't use Smart Deploy for this - need to use base SmartWIM). So Ghost is a bit better in this regard than Smart Deploy since it can clone physical machines.
