Hi Guys,

I am having problems with our default.ppk since upgrading to 1910 build.

I have updated all the ppks that referred to WINPE 2.1 as instructed. And whilst doing this have updated the Bios for each model to the latest from Dell.

Now when i build a machine with Smartdeploy, towards the end of the imaging process, i receive an overflow error.

On checking the deploy.log i am recing the following...

I have also built a fresh ppk for the pc model in question and receive the same error.

This also happens on other models that i have updated the bios. I have double checked the wmi and postimage entries which i know are correct.

When i remove the bios from the ppk. all runs fine.

Any ideas as to the problem please.?

Also. If after the pc has been added to the domain with the XML, What format does it need to be for me to put the client in the correct OU. Do i need to use the LDAP format or can it be in the format DOMAIN/DESKTOPS etc.?

Sorry for being a pain. But want to automate as much as I can.

Hi All,

Is it possible to add dns suffix addresses to the xml file. ?

I have them in my base vhd but they appear to be getting removed during the sysprep process.

I have a batch file that i want to run at first logon that maps a drive to a network share and runs some automated installs that i don't want to in the vhd but the machine cannot see the network server unless i re-enter the suffix address.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Also, Is it possible to have multiple dwm images the same WIM. ?

Have looked around the site but can't find any methods. Bet it's staring me in the face.

Our Hospital has now purchased Smartdeploy Enterprise and am looking forward to finally cutting the tether with Symantec Ghost.

We have been looking for alternatives for the last two years but most fell short of what we needed.

Prowess Smartdeploy is everything we need, and with differencing images, cuts down the need for so much SAN space required.

Just to let you know I solved the problem in that i had a corrupt platform file.

I had downloaded the ppk's for each model at home due to having a faster connection and one of the files had got corrupt during transfer to my test pc at work.

After downloading a new ppk and testing today, all is well again.

Hi there,

I am currently evaluating SmartDeploy and each time today when i use the deploy wizard to push out an image to a test pc, I receive a message box with "Automation error".

This message occurs after i click the finish button.

The pc is an Optiplex 755 that has a current os on the hard drive which i wish to overwrite.

the default ppk has the 755 drivers which was used to create the media.

i still have 22 days remaining of my evaluation.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a timescale as to when the hyphen in a domain name will be rectified in SmartPE.?

Ok Next question

Today whilst building my amswer.xml, I have come across a slight issue.

Our domain name has a "-" within it's name. ie. bill-gates.nhs.uk which is returning as invalid.

If i remove the "-" to billgates.nhs.uk all is fine. But our domain has the "-" within its name.

Is there a workaround i could use ie placing the domain within quotes or is this a validation built within the software.?

Otherwise everything else is still going very nicely.

Hello All,

I have been evaluating Smartdeploy Enterprise over the weekend and am impressed with the results so far.

A quick question for you guys, is it possible to automate the mapping of a network share to the wim and ppk files rather than having to do it manually on each boot of smartpe? and how please.

I'm new to the PE environment and not very knowledgable in this field.

I work at our local Hospital as a techie and it is my role to manage the ghost images, We are currently looking for an alternative, this being the reason for the Smartdeploy Eval.

No doubt this will be my first question of a few in the near future as my eval period continues.
