capture user state : Code 5 Access is denied
mnewman posted a topic in General Deployment Discussion
HI Gang. I'm trying to capture the user state of a machine that I've recently deployed to but I receive an error as: CODE 5: Access is denied. I found a similar error on the forum that suggested antivirus.I'm not sure if this is the same code but removed antivirus and disabled firewall to see if I could even make the connection. Still no success. any ideas ? -
will do, thanks a ton Jeff !

error : network path not found, I can see it when the VM is running.

when the vm's boot to the Smart deploy boot environment is when I lose the usb and network. (vmwareplayer15/vmwareworstation 12)
-
it does retain the IP address, but when I search for image to deploy searching the network is not an option nor is searching any USB drives. let em try to grab an image for reference
-
I did include it but if I cant utilize the usb or network how can I deploy the package ? possible to install the platform pack without boot to boot environment ?

tips or tricks ? as soon as my virtual machines reboot, I lose the network and usb for deployment.

is it possible to deploy an image to a virtual machine in VMware ?
-
size of image doesn't change and after closing this window nothing seems to happen. No status window or update. also last modified date doesn't change
-
can you recommend a platform pack (from the downloads)that has this OS node in it ?
-
I've set the machine to reboot after deploying a new package. When I get to the login screen I'm greeted with a new 2nd user login. After I login in to the original login the 2nd login disappears. Is this normal ?

I have a machine with 3 partitions all running different versions of Windows. Can I deploy an image to 1 of these partitions without removing the others ?
-
The last modified date doesn't change. it still reflects the last time I captured the image or added the reference machine. Also to make sure I'm understanding this correctly, the image updates or refreshes from the reference machine ? yes ?
-
same for images, How do I know when the image has been refreshed ?
-
If I select refresh a reference machine, it is "submitted for refresh" how do I know when the task has been completed ?
-
I'm noticing when I create a new virtual machine in VMware it asks if I want to split the machine in multiple files or build as a single file. Also it looks like the deployment packages are splitting the previously made single file images. Is there a preference here for Smart deploy? cCapture 1 file as an image or capture multiple files as an image ?

thanks Jeff. I'm testing different methods for gathering drivers for different machines. though keeping everything organized is probably best, for testing sakes, I'll try a single folder and see how it gets along

I've watched the short video on the creating custom fixture packs and have a question. Is the file structure more important for the user or the deployment process? I'm curious to know if I have most of my drivers saved from another machine, can I toss them in a single file ,build a fixture pack with it and let windows sort them out ? Or does it have to be structured so each driver is separated based on its purpose/use. hope the question makes sense. Thanks All !!!

This appears to have worked. I came back with an error the first time, asked if I wanted to run again, then proceeded to write the media successfully. Thanks Admin !

I only have 1 usb drive . not sure if this would happen on other usb drives
-
how is this different from using the DISK MANAGEMENT ?

I've reformatted my USB drive in every format, I've partitioned it to various sizes and the media wizard still hangs on which media type to use when creating a deployment package. The Media Wizard stalls with a message of " Checking removable drive properties, please wait ...." anyone experienced this ?

where should I type this ?
